Hello Yellowstone-Teton Running with the Buffaloes racers!!

It is hard to believe that Oct. 5th is almost here. Following is some important information that will help you prepare for the event. And, it’s not too late to invite a friend to come and run with you!! Until race day, most of the updates will be posted to our Facebook page, which is where you can also post/ask any questions about the event.

Important: If you have not already made your flight, hotel or car rental reservations, we suggest you do so very soon in order to secure the dates and best rates. The race, which is point-to-point, starts in West Yellowstone, MT and finishes in Driggs, ID (and the host hotel is in Victor, ID). Please check out the Lodging & Travel page for updates!

50 MILE PARTICIPANTS

If you are running the 50 mile race it is best you work out a ride to get to the start and or have a crew. If you drive your car and leave it at the starting line you will need to find a ride back to the starting line to retrieve your vehicle. We suggest adding a post to the YT race Facebook page that you are looking for a ride to the 50 Mile start; many people will be driving there so carpooling should not be an issue..

AID STATIONS

All of the aid stations will be “named” in the next few days. We plan on having physical therapists, massage therapists, a chiropractor and wonderful volunteers at the on course aid stations. If you do not have a crew, you must be prepared to carry enough water between each aid station so please plan accordingly.

WEATHER

The weather is 100% unpredictable here in October. Apart from normal race clothing, running shoes and reflective/safety gear, be sure to pack a wind/water proof jacket, tights, lightweight hat, gloves, etc., and plan on having a change of clothing in case the weather isn’t ideal. Additionally, plan on bringing your own foot care kit, pain meds (we do not distribute pain meds during the event) and/or any other supplies you typically use during a long race. The views and brilliant fall colors should be outstanding so don’t forget to pack a camera!

SAFETY

As a reminder, we encourage all participants to carry Bear Spray from mile 50 to the finish line. No bears have been reported on the actual race course, but you should be prepared. Bear spray can be purchased at our Teton Running Company store, where you will pick up your race packet. Additionally, reflective gear and blinking lights are mandatory pieces of gear. You may also enjoy a one-time 20% discount off all shoes, clothing and nutritional products. Place your order in advance and we can have it ready for you upon arrival, or with a purchase of $50 or more we ship to you free! Please email lisa@dreamchaserevents.com to place your order, or visit www.TetonRunning.com to order on-line.
